Filed in Office of Town Clerk of Mattapoisett April 12th 1889, Attest Henry A. Shurtleff/Town Clerk.
On this 12th day of April 1889 the Selectmen of Mattapoisett on teh Petition of Charles Bryand and other legal voters of said town and after due notices and hearing all parties, laid out a road leading from Main Street from the southeast corner of land of Heirs of T. Nelson to and across the Creek to Barnard's Island and by the south side of said Island to within 50 feet of the track of the F. B. Railroad at the southwest corner of said Island as follows beginning on the west side of Main Street at southeast corner of land of Heirs of T. Nelson thence south 4/50 west 44 rods to stake at southeast corner of Island thence west 23 rods and 4 feet to stake thence west 4/12 1/2 south 8 rods, 6 feet to stake, thence west29 south 14 rods, 14 feet to stake at , said road to be 40 feet wide to the nortward of the above angles.
And we estimate the cost of building and fencing said road and building bridge and constructing wall west of creet at 24 and land damage as follows: Heirs of Thomas Nelson $200.00, George M. Barnard $400.00, O C. Rad Road $75.00 total $675.00. And we hereby declare that said road was laid out by us under the provisions of law authorizing the assessments or betterments and we reseve all rights to assess betterments under said act relating to betterments upon my abutter or adjoining land owner or other person or persons especially benefitted by said road.
